John W. Barnett, Jr.
Mr. Barnett is a telecommunications consultant and investor.
Mr. Barnett was COO of Data Services for McCleod USA (April 2000
- December 2001). Mr. Barnett was the President of the Wholesale
Services division of MCI WorldCom, Inc. (February 1997 - March,
2000) and was President of WorldCom International from June 1996
through February 1997. From January 1995 until June 1996, Mr.
Barnett served as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing
of Williams Communications Company. From July 1993 until January
1995, Mr. Barnett was President of WilTel International, a division
of WilTel Network Services. Wiltel Network Services is a predecessor
of WorldCom, Inc. Mr. Barnett has also served as a Director of
the Competitive Telecommunications Association (CompTel) , America's
Carriers Telecommunication Association (ACTA), the Multimedia
Telecommunications Association. He is currently serving on the
Boards of Carrier Access Corporation and several privately held
corporations (America's Communications Network, CNM Network, General
Bandwidth, and SandCherry Networks ). Mr. Barnett received a B.A.
in Political Science from Tulane University.
Eric C. Nielsen
Eric Nielsen is a Senior Director/Partner in the Houston office
of Spencer Stuart with a broad-based search practice, but with
an orientation towards senior level industrial (energy - upstream/downstream,
chemicals, power and services), private equity and financial services
assignments. Recent searches include CEO/COO/Presidents and Board
Members for clients such as Noble Corporation, AES, Marubeni,
Centrica, Dominion, EnCana, Valero and Noble Energy. Recent CFO/CAO
searches include AES, Halliburton, Irving Oil, Fluor Corporation
and Reliant Resources. Recent private equity and financial institution
assignments include Black Stone Minerals, EnLink GeoEnergy, Waterous,
First Solar, EnCap Investments and Zero Stage Capital.
Prior to joining Spencer Stuart in 1997, Eric was an Executive
Director with another global search firm where he was a leader
in their Global Energy Group. Prior to beginning his executive
search career in 1992, Eric held regional management, operations,
and engineering and merger/acquisition roles for BHP Petroleum.
Eric earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering
from Tulsa University, and his M.B.A. from the Jones Graduate
School at Rice University.
Michael J. Kleeman
Michael J. Kleeman is the Chief Technology Officer of Cometa
Networks. He has been involved with Cometa since its early days,
acting as the technology planner for the study team and then working
with the network and back office planning teams prior to the launch
of the firm. As CTO of Cometa he is responsible for the overall
technical architecture of our service, with particular focus on
the three critical aspects of Cometa's business, the radio access
network at partner locations (including radio access point deployment),
the wireline Internet Protocol communications network, and the
computer systems for managing and supporting the Cometa Network
and authorizing/billing for services.
Prior to joining Cometa, Mr. Kleeman was involved in numerous
communications services organizations, as an executive, founder
and advisor. He was the founding CTO of Global Telesystems Group,
co-founded the International Group at Sprint, and was founding
CTO at Aerie Networks, now the operator of the Ricochet Network.
He has extensive experience in working with network operators,
ranging from fiber based long haul carriers such as Wiltel and
AT&T, to cellular and local providers, in the U.S. and overseas.
He has also been involved with undersea and satellite based international
communications as a designer and advisor.
Stuart P. Conrad, CFA
Mr. Conrad co-founded 3 2 Capital Advisors after nearly seven
years as Managing Director and Head of the North American Telecommunications
Research Group at Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown. His focus included
all segments of the telecommunications industry. He concentrated
on the long distance industry where he was responsible for both
first- and second-tier long distance carriers. He also distinguished
himself through his in-depth coverage of the emerging players
such as the competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs) capitalizing
on the opportunity created by historic industry deregulation and
trends in technology. Lastly, Mr. Conrad focused much of his recent
efforts with the network builders which facilitated competition
at the local, domestic long-haul, and global level.
Mr. Conrad has many years of experience in the communications
field, including management positions in Investor Relations and
Corporate Planning at MCI. Previously, he was a Communications
Officer with the U.S. Air Force. His final active-duty assignment
was as Chief Intelligence and Computer Systems Officer for the
Tactical Air Command, Langley AFB VA. After leaving active-duty,
he continued to serve as a member of the Air Force Reserves where
he was Chief of the White House Liaison Branch. Mr. Conrad has
extensive transactional and financing experience and has many
years of experience in the communications field, including management
positions in Investor Relations and Corporate Planning at MCI.
Previously, he was a Communications Officer with the U.S. Air
Force. His final active-duty assignment was as Chief Intelligence
and Computer Systems Officer for the Tactical Air Command, Langley
AFB VA. After leaving active-duty, he continued to serve as a
member of the Air Force Reserves where he was Chief of the White

financing experience in working with companies operating in the
telecommunications sector. Mr. Conrad received his Bachelor of
Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the United States
Air Force Academy and a Masters Degree in Corporate Finance from
the College of William and Mary. He was awarded the designation
of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) in 1994. Mr. Conrad and his
wife, Margaret, are the parents of eight-year old triplets –
two boys and one girl.
